Is this government-approved?

No. This is an independent tool that helps format and check common rules. Final acceptance is decided by the U.S. Department of State or the acceptance facility. We do not guarantee approval.

What do I get for free?

A watermark preview to check framing, head size range, and background uniformity.

What do I get after mock unlock?

An HD image (600×600 px) and a 4×6 inch print sheet with two 2×2 photos (for printing at photo kiosks or home).

What are the official size and background rules?

• Final size: 2×2 inches.
• Head height: 1–1⅜ inches (about 50–69% of the image height).
• Background: plain white or off‑white, evenly lit, no patterns or heavy shadows.

Can I wear glasses or a head covering?

Glasses are not allowed in new passport photos (rare medical exceptions require a signed statement). Religious head coverings are allowed, but your face must be fully visible and evenly lit without shadows.

Any tips for photographing infants or young children?

• Photograph the child alone, facing the camera with eyes open if possible.
• Lay infants on a plain white sheet or place them in a car seat covered with a white sheet.
• Ensure even lighting with minimal shadows; no hands or objects supporting the head should be visible.

Do I need a digital upload or a printed photo?

Many applications are submitted with a printed 2×2 inch photo attached to the form. If a digital upload is requested by an official service, you can use the HD image we generate. Always follow the instructions of your specific application process.

What file format do you provide?

The preview is a watermark image shown in your browser. After mock unlock, you can download a 600×600 px JPG and a 4×6 inch JPG sheet suitable for high‑quality printing.

How long are files kept?

Short retention for delivery and troubleshooting; files are routinely deleted.
